1. Spirituality is at the core of our human existence- it is our relation to the absolute. It is the way to enlightenment and ultimate deliverance. In our daily life, as a rule, spirituality is latently present as a quiet force in the background as an inspiration and orientation, but sometimes it forces its way into our consciousness as an inescapable presence, a presence which demands questioning about our existence and everything around us. The spiritual core is the deepest center of the person. It is here that the person is open to the transcendent dimension and experiences ultimate reality.
2.It is a big misconception that religion and spirituality are the same. Religion is belonging to an association with an established set of beliefs and practices while spirituality is a feeling and a belief, a sixth sense that there is more out there than just this life. It is not necessary that a religious person is spiritual. Religion can be used as a guiding light to attain spirituality. To attain spirituality a person should have some basic qualities like respect for human relationships, should be honest, courageous, determined, loyal etc. Moreover, he should have self-discipline and should be sensitive to the surroundings. In today’s fast paced and competitive world, spirituality has become very necessary as people are very busy running after success and trying to lead a materialistic life. People in the present society are filled with tension and pressure for a better future. They blindly focus on their goal without realizing that it is harming their life. Today’s young generation is bombarded with multiple inputs from the media, Internet and social environment. These lead to distractions and create a sense of confusion in order to select the most suitable path towards life and happiness. Being kind hearted, forgiving and affectionate in itself is happiness. Spirituality gives a sense of freedom, aspiration, contentment and modesty. Moreover, spirituality is a means to stabilize ones thoughts and provide a state of equilibrium within one’s body, mind and soul. Spirituality to young minds will provide them a purpose of life.
3. Spirituality is not the end of leading a happy and enjoyable life but a means to attaining a higher platform with much more happiness and better enjoyment in a meaningful way. Finally, spirituality is very important in a student’s life as it helps him to understand the purpose of his learning and give his life a direction for the larger good.
